BEDFORD -- Agnes Elizabeth McCarthy, 90, of Bedford died peacefully Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. Memorial service: The family will hold a private service where they will warmly remember her abiding kindness, generous spirit, deep devotion to her family and friends, and longtime love of gardening, beaches and lighthouses. Memorials: The family kindly requests donations to charity in lieu of flowers. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Agnes was born to Eva Girard Manning and Michael James Manning in Holyoke, Mass., on June 26, 1923. After graduating from Holyoke High School, attending Holyoke Business College and working in a munitions plant during World War II, she married Edward Robert McCarthy on June 21, 1944. The couple moved in 1946 to Fort Worth, where they created a happy home for their daughter, Donna, and their son, James. After 48 years of marriage, Agnes was preceded in death by the love of her life June 26, 1992. Survivors: Her memory endures in her loving family, including her daughter, Donna Grelle (husband Kent); son, James McCarthy (wife Amy); grandchildren, Ryan Grelle (wife Lisa), Jill Atkins (husband Chris), Michael McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy and Maureen McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Cole and Ella Atkins and Savannah and Lucas Grelle; sister, Maureen Cauley (husband John); brother-in-law, Albert J McCarthy; sister-in-law, Cecelia McCarthy; brother-in-law, Jim Mooney Sr.; and many nieces and nephews.
