FORT WORTH -- Nell Goodman Hall, 97, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, April 7, 2007. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road. Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger will officiate. Burial: Following committal services, Nell will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fred, in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Nell's family will receive friends at the residence of Mike and Rachel Goldman following services in the cemetery. Minyan services will begin at 5:30 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions, in lieu of flowers, to a charity of one's choice, in memory of Nell, is suggested. Born in Altoona, Pa., on March 22, 1910, Nell was the daughter of Wolf and Anna Sophie Hoffenberg Goodman. She graduated at 16 from Altoona High School before attending business school. As a young woman, Nell's adventurous spirit took her first to El Paso and then the Panama Canal Zone. For vacations, she traveled the Caribbean on banana boats. She married Frederick William Hall in 1944 before moving to New Orleans so he could study accounting at Tulane University. After graduating, they moved to Fort Worth. Nell assisted in her husband's practice until his death in 1963. After selling the accounting practice, Nell became a volunteer, highly prized for her bookkeeping skills and attention to detail. Organizations benefiting from her efforts include Beth-El Congregation and its Sisterhood, the Hebrew Free Loan Society, the B'nai B'rith Apartments, Brandeis Women, the Texas Jewish Historical Society, the Symphony League, Proyecto Huasteco, the Pan American Round Table and Oktoberfest. Survivors: Son, Charles Goodman Hall of Euless; daughter, Valerie Hall Frost of Santa Fe, N.M.; granddaughters, Alanna Frost Bach and her husband, Rabbi Larry Bach, of El Paso, Mariel Jeanne Frost Sala and her husband, Sam, of Fort Worth and Camille Faye Frost of Santa Fe, N.M.; great-granddaughters, Helaine Ann, Simona Leah and Esther Michal Bach and Maya Allison Sala; sister, Edith Goodman Maximon of Clearwater, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.Robertson Mueller Harper Funerals & Cremations 1500 Eighth Ave., 817-924-4233
