WHITE SETTLEMENT -- Alma Jewell Nichols Dunning, 91, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, died peacefully Friday morning, December 8, 2006 at a Fort Worth hospital. Celebration of life: 1 p.m. in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Charles Levine, pastor of Terrace Acres Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial: Following services in the chapel, Jewell will be laid to rest next to her husband, Wayland in Greenwood Memorial Park. Bearers of her casket will be Clayton Dunning, Chris Little, Larry Little, Matthew Little, Richard Ooten and Donnie Santin. Visitation: Mrs. Dunning will lie in state on Monday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; her family will receive friends in the Great Room from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to Terrace Acres Baptist Church or to a charity of choice in memory of Jewell is suggested. A native of Bonham, Alma Jewell was born June 9, 1915, the daughter of Jason and Deborah Yowell Nichols. She was the oldest of eight children. Her husband, Wayland Warren Dunning preceded her in death after 70 years of marriage. Jewell was a member and Sunday school teacher at Terrace Acres Baptist Church for many years. She was cherished and will be missed more than words can say. Survivors: son, Wayland W. Dunning, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Fort Worth; daughters, Janis Dunning Gregory and her husband, Keith of North Augusta, S.C., and Shirley Dunning Little and her husband, Bill of White Settlement; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandsons; sister, Pat Young of Colbert, Ok.; brothers, Truly Nichols and his wife, Skeet, also of Colbert, Ok., Prentis Nichols and his wife, Debbie of Denison and Alston Nichols and his wife, Christine of Independence, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
