BEDFORD -- Alvie "Bud" Alonzo Ring, 71, went to be with his Savior on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008. Funeral: 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He was the son of John and Vera Ring and one of 13 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather "poppie," great-grandfather and brother. He was one of the most generous souls and loved by all who met him. Once he knew you, you were a friend for life. Bud had a favorite saying when asked, "How are you?" He always said, "I'm walking and breathing, and that is a plus." He had such a forgiving nature, it was unreal; he was slow to anger and his love was unconditional and freely given. He served our country at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho, from 1954 until 1959, saying it was one of the best times of his life. He went on to be an air traffic controller for 28 years retiring in 1992. He will be terribly missed by all, and we will see him again. Rejoice, Rejoice For My Child Has Come Home. Survivors: Wife, Nancy; children, Alvie Lee Ring, Anita Lynn Blakley and Alisa Leann Tatum; grandchildren, Nickki, Tawnie, Krista and Michael; great-granddaughter, Meygan Maree; stepchildren, Pamella, Hoss, Bo, Bobby, Johnny, Mark and Kathy; 16 stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jordan and Tatum; brothers, Billy and Jimmy; and sister, Lois Sue.
