BEDFORD -- Alvin Manuel "Al" Polsky died peacefully Tuesday evening, May 11, 2010, in his 79th year. Service: 11:30 a.m. Monday with military honors and religious ceremony in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker of Congregation Beth Israel, Colleyville, will officiate. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Brotherhood Fund at Beth-El Congregation, the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Boston, Mass., on April 6, 1931, Al was the son of Joseph Maurice and Dorothy Daniels Polsky. He was a 1958 graduate of Boston University Aeronautical School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. For 37 years, Al worked for American Airlines, starting in Washington, D.C., then Chicago, Ill., and Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Dallas-Fort Worth, where he retired. A strong advocate for learning and staying busy, Al took courses throughout his life, most recently with the Bedford Seniors in computer, Spanish and guitar. He always belonged to a health club for physical exercise, and played golf and billiards. He was a devoted Democrat and a member of Beth-El Congregation for over 26 years. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 45 years, Sandra Phyllis Neckers Polsky, Al is survived by his daughter, Deborah Sara-Jane "Debbi" Polsky Tyler and her husband, John, and their son, Julian Kennedy Logan Tyler; son, Joseph Martin Polsky; brother-in-law, Nelson Neckers and his wife, Gloria; nieces and nephews and their families; cousins; and friends.
