MANSFIELD -- Alvin Julius Tipton, 79, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, in Mansfield. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Alvin was born July 11, 1928, in De Witt, Ark., to Elmer and Ida George Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ida Tipton, and sister, Joyce Martin. Survivors: Wife, Barbara Tipton; sons, Alvin Tipton of Fort Worth, Roger Scott and Russell Tipton of Mansfield; daughters, Janice Belken of Kennedale and Debbie Ellis and husband, Bob; sisters, Ruby Miller and husband, Bill, Mary Hutchens, Lollie Lopez and Jenny Elkins, all of Fresno, Calif.; brothers, Buddy Tipton and wife, Mary of Fort Smith, Ark., and Tommy Tipton and wife, Carol of Topeka, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
