"Nin" was born April 15, 1927, in Clarendon. She was raised in various towns, cities and ranches in the Panhandle. She was never one that let truth get in the way of a good story. She would tell all kinds of events, happenings and occurrences that she witnessed as a young girl; from the likes of Charlie Goodnight to Marshal Pat Garrett, she had a tale. In 1946 she met and married the late Barney B. Cardwell. They had two daughters, Lou Ann and Margaret Kay. She spent most of her years as a devoted wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother in Houston. She was always ready to laugh and was strong-willed and not afraid of a fight. This grandson can't recall visiting Nin and not leaving with a smile, a new perspective on a current political issue and some gas money. Survivors: Daughters, Ann Stacy and husband, John, and Margaret Womack and husband, C.D.; brother, Jack Carter; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
