BEDFORD -- Arthur Billy "Bill" Cook Jr. of Bedford, a devoted husband, loving stepfather and grandfather, went to be with our Father in heaven at the age of 59 on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.        Service: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White's Chapel Blvd., Southlake.        Memorials: In Bill's honor, donations may be made to the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center, 1700 Pacific Ave., Dallas, Texas 75201, or at www.marycrowley.org.        Bill was a quiet man of compassion, generosity and faith. He was born Dec. 8, 1949, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Arthur Billy Cook Sr. and Anna Marie Frye Cook. In 1968, Bill graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph, Mo., with honors as a member of the National Honors Society. Bill became a member of the Kansas National Guard in 1970. Education was very important to Bill; he had an MBA degree in accounting and finance from Regis University in Denver, Colo., and a business administration degree from Columbia College. He was certified in SAP R/3; a member of the Project Management Institute and a graduate of the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management, Stanford University.        He was a member of White's Chapel United Methodist Church of Southlake.        Paul wrote that in this world we are "at home" in the body, but in the world to come, we will be "at home" with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:6-8)        "As for me, I shall behold Thy face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Thy likeness when I awake" (Psalm 17:15)        Rest at last!        Bill was preceded in death by both his parents.        Survivors: His wife, Patricia of Bedford; sister, Tami Cook of St. Joseph, Mo.; stepsons, Jeffrey Smith, daughter-in-law, Vicki Smith and David Smith of Nebraska and Bradley Smith of Ohio; stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Logan and Blake Smith, Grady, David and Shyla Smith of Nebraska; brothers-in-law, George and Mavis Bailey and Larry and Susan Bailey; sister-in-law, Marla Faye and Gary Dadey of Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and an extended family in Texas, Denise and Daben Zwald, Emma, Lindsay and Grant, David and Traci Scofield, Allisha and Cole.
