Audrey Susan Thomas was born August 22, 1927 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Milford and Nancy (Pence) Ball. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed her faith at the Roman Catholic Church in Portsmouth. Susan went to Portsmouth High School graduating in 1946 and worked at Palmer Donovan as an office clerk for five years while she lived with her aunt, Della. She then attended Bliss College in Columbus, Ohio where she met the love of her life, Gene. They were married on July 23, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio and lived there until moving to Detroit in 1955. She worked as a Dental Assistant with Drs. Weiner and Snyder in the Detroit area for 17 years and they attended Christ Lutheran in Warren. Following their life in Detroit area they moved to Nashville, TN and then to Jacksonville FL before coming to North Richland Hills in 1981. While here Susan worked for Classic cleaners for ten years. She is a member of Calvary Lutheran in Richland Hills where she served on the Altar Guild and she was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Royal - Oak Chapter 392. Susan is survived by her husband Gene of North Richland Hills; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jacqueline Thomas of Fremont, NE; grandsons Christopher Thomas of Oceanside, CA, Scott Thomas of Fremont, NE, Erik Thomas of North Hollywood, CA and great granddaughter Genesis-Dolce Thomas of Fremont, NE, also nieces - Diane (Chuck) Ailes of Roseville, CA; Nancy (Jack) Paddon of Newcastle, CA and numerous grandnieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Nancy, and her step-mother Margaret Ball, brother Webb Ball and sister-in-law Gloria Ball. Her celebration of life service will be at 11:00 am Monday, April 6, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills, TX. The Revs. Philip Heinz and Kyle Rouse will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Sunday, April 5 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst TX with the family receiving guests from 6-8 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Monday at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
