Austin Roberts

Austin Ladd Roberts, 87, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 in Bedford, Texas. Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, January 2, 2009 in Davis Morris Funeral Chapel, Brownwood, Texas. Visitation will be 1 pm until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Leaf Cemetery. Austin, the son of Harry A. and Alta Gockley Roberts, was born March 20, 1921 in Casper, Wyoming. He graduated from Howard Payne University. An accountant, he served numerous school districts and was business manager of Region 18, Education services. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He was a former Rotarian. Survivors: wife of 61 years, LaVerne Roberts; sons, Ladd Roberts, Don Roberts and wife, Marcie; daughter, Charlotte Jane Handlin and husband, Larry; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
