NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Barbara J. Thede, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 13, 2011. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 Bedford Euless Rd., Hurst. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials are requested to Peace Lutheran Church. Barbara was born Oct. 16, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn., and married Donald Thede in 1946. She was a supportive U.S. Air Force wife throughout Donald's 27 years of military service. Barbara was a graduate of School of Library Science at Texas Woman's University in Denton and served as a librarian for Tarrant County Junior College and at the North Richland Hills Library. Late in life, she became a business entrepreneur and started her own business selling antique furniture which had been refurbished by her husband. Barbara loved to travel and traveled extensively with her family from Europe to Alaska. She always had a bag packed and was ready for either a new destination or to welcome another great-grandchild. Barbara was a active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst for the past quarter-century. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Timothy Thede. Survivors: Her beloved husband of 64 years, Donald; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Schledorn; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Desiree Thede; daughter, Nancy Delauranti; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Cathy Thede; granddaughters, Kristin Schledorn and Carlyn Smerey; grandson, Jesse Morgan; great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Schledorn-Rudden; great-grandsons, Keen Schledorn-Mott and Camden Smerey; sister-in-law, Ruth MacKenzie; and nieces, Janis MacKenzie and Cynthia MacKenzie.
