IRVING -- Bernard Glenn Bryson Jr., "Doc Bryson" to friends and "Pops" to family, passed away Tuesday, April. 13, 2010, in Irving. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at St Mark's Episcopal Church, 516 S. O'Connor Road, Irving. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. He was born May 14, 1917, to Glenn and Lillian Bryson of Shreveport, La. After suffering the loss of his father at age 7, he helped support his family by working the family farm, selling newspapers and any job that would bring money during the heart of the Great Depression. He graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1940. After a long career in the USDA meat inspection division in Fort Worth, he retired in 1975. A more kind and generous man, you will not meet. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Babs Riser Bryson; his second wife, also of 34 years, Alpha Knight Bryson; brothers, Frank Bryson and Lee Bryson; and sister, Lillian Bryson Ward. Survivors: Sons, Glenn Bryson III and wife, Louise, Jerry Bryson and wife, Carolyn, and Paul Bryson and wife, Cindy; eight Bryson grandchildren and eight Bryson great-grandchildren; stepson, Ronald Odell and wife, Judy; stepdaughter, Newlene Hunt and husband, J.W.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
