KELLER -- Bert Overfield, a Keller,TX resident and beloved father, grandfather and friend, was set free to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2010. A memorial service will be held Wed. July 21 at 2:30PM at The Conservatory Senior Living in Keller, led by Pastor Floyd Ellsworth from the Oasis Community Worship Center. Bert spent the past year enjoying life with his many friends at the Conservatory. With the love, support and prayer of friends and family, Bert bravely battled emphysema for 10 years---having his life extended by participating in an Emphysema Treatment Trial at National Jewish Health in Denver, CO. Bert finally succumbed to pancreatic cancer (a recent diagnosis). The former aeronautical engineer was one of the original designers of the Lear Jet, A37 and Cessna Citation. Bert served in key management positions at Cessna, Lear Jet, Lear Fan and Piaggio. Bert also served in the Navy in the 1950's. Survivors: his sister, Virginia Neal of Arizona; children; Terri Dittmer of Colorado, Rod Overfield of Keller, and Nancy Overfield-Delmar of Keller, as well as nine grandchildren. His wife, Dorothy, went to the Lord in March 2009. Those wishing to honor his memory may make a contribution to National Jewish Health. Lucas Funeral Home
