EULESS -- Betty Lou Kopenhafer, 89, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012. Celebration of life: A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7341 Glenview Drive, North Richland Hills. Celebrant will be Father Karl Schilken. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, in Hurst, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials: St. John the Apostle School, 7421 Glenview Drive, North Richland Hills, Texas 76180. She was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Newport, Ark., the daughter of Louis and Bessie Ginocchio. She was a graduate of the Texas State College for Women in Denton. She was an active parishioner at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, having taught there for more than 17 years. She was actively involved as a leader in various Boy Scout programs, with all four sons attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. She was fond of gardening and painting and developed many friendships in those clubs. Her parents, three of her four siblings and a son, Jay, preceded her in death. Survivors: Her loving husband of 66 years, Joseph A. Kopenhafer Sr.; sister, Bobbie Eblen; sons, Jim, Tom, Mark and Gerry; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and a host a friends.
