Betty Joan Parsons

HURST -- Betty Joan Parsons, 81, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Additional services will be under the direction of DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk, Iowa. Interment will be in Keokuk National Cemetery. Betty Joan, the daughter of Otto William and Mary Matilda Jackson Kempkes, was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Donaldson, Iowa. She was a teacher's aide at Shady Oaks Elementary School for 22 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira George Parsons; daughters, Kathy, Sandra and Carla Jean; granddaughters, Anna and Mary Anne; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors: Sons, Robert Parsons (Tania) and Ronnie Parsons (Lupe); daughters, Connie Meller (Ron) and Georgeann Alexander (Robert); 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
