FORT WORTH -- Bill Leon Cashon, 83, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, 800 W. Berry St. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Calvario Funeral Chapel (formerly Shannon North). The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude. Bill was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Vian, Okla., to Alvin Jerome and Gertrude Susan Cashon. Bill graduated from Haskell High School in 1946. He attended and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1952. He also graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a bachelor of divinity in 1962. Bill was ordained in 1950. He married Geneva Grayson on May 30, 1954, in Tulsa, Okla. Bill was employed by Woods Furniture in Granbury. Bill was a World War II Army veteran, author, and a pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in the '60s. He loved writing, gardening and spending time with his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors: Wife, Geneva Cashon of Fort Worth; son, Michael Cashon of Fort Worth; daughter, Debbie Cashon of Grapevine; sisters, Ludean Walters and husband, Andy Walters, of Haskell, Okla., and Jane Brown of Pigeon Ford, Tenn.; grandson, Mikey Cashon and wife, Amber Cashon, of Grapevine; granddaughters, Jodi Cashon of Trophy Club and Katarina Cashon of Fort Worth; great-grandsons, Lane and Landry Cashon of Grapevine; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
