Billie Ferguson

HURST -- The world lost one of its greatest caregivers, Billie Jean Lamkin Ferguson, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Whitt Cemetery in Whitt. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. She was born in Fort Worth to David and Izzie Lamkin, the fourth of five children. Billie is survived and remembered by friends from all over the world whom she had met with her husband, Jack, during their 22-year tour in the Navy traveling to France, Germany and Spain. A wonderful wife and mother, she started her medical career of 20 years for Dr. Barrington located in the Mid-Cities. She was known to all as being friendly and helpful to her patients and a loving grandmother. Continuing her care for others after retirement and a stroke, she volunteered at the Stroke Rehab Center at North Hills Hospital for 13 years. We say goodbye to Billie Ferguson today but we all know that we will see her again in heaven. Many friends and family are waiting for her there. She was preceded in the death by her parents and four siblings, including her grandson, Matt Durham, in 2006. Survivors: Daughters, Linda Kates of Bedford and Cynthia Durham of Azle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons, with another great-grandchild on the way.
