BEDFORD -- Billy Shelton Curtis, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Temple Church, 6801 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, with the family receiving friends 6:30 to 8 p.m., and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Bill was born May 18, 1933, in Waurika, Okla. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He had a extremely successful career as an athlete and as an educator. Bill was in education for 35 years, retiring from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District in 1992 as principal of Euless Junior High School. Bill was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Bethel Temple. Survivors: His loving wife of 44 years, Mona Lee; daughter, Rebecca Katherine Carney of Tulsa, Okla.; son, Todd Shelton Curtis and wife, Jennifer, and children, Mollie and Karly, of Fort Worth; sister, Lillie V Kirkwood of Tulsa, Okla.; grandson, Jeff Goebel and wife, Jennifer, and great-grandsons, Austin and Grant, of Magnolial; sister-in-law, Royce Welch of Austin; many nieces and nephews; a loving Bethel Temple Church family; and many close friends.
