FORT WORTH -- Carmen R. Vivar, 96, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvario Funeral Chapel, formerly Shannon's North. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Carmen was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Lima, Peru. She moved to Fort Worth in 1970, and immediately began to work alongside her husband, Carlos L. Vivar, who had been appointed honorary consul of Peru by his government. She was involved with the Pan American Round Table and other organizations in service to others. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Carlos Vivar, M.D. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors: Daughters, Carmen Mitchell and her husband, David, and Gladys Heller and husband, Matt; sons, Miguel Vivar and wife, Marilyn, and Jorge Vivar and wife, Denise; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Vivar; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their "Mama."
