Carol Hollembeak Strange passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: The Vaculitis Foundation, P.O. Box 28660, Kansas City, Mo. 64188-8660. She was born May 18, 1930, in Chadron, Neb., the daughter of Paul and Edith Koeller. She graduated from high school in Arkansas City, Kan., in 1948, where she was Basketball Queen. In 1949, she attended Kansas University, where she was elected Beauty Queen. She moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1962 with her first husband, Jack Hollembeak, the father of her three children. She belonged to Junior Service League, Pink Ladies and a book club. She met and married Gerald Strange in 1981; it was a lovely time. Survivors: Her husband, Gerald Strange; her children, Mark Hollembeak and wife, Marilyn, Brooke Saathoff and husband, Sam, and Kurt Hollembeak and wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Evan and Eric Saathoff, Stan Titus and Summer Hollembeak; great-grandchildren, Basil, Macrina and Madison Saathoff; sister, Kathleen Boyce; and brothers, Warren and Jon Koeller.
