BEDFORD -- Carole Kay Goade ended her battle with cancer at a care facility in Bedford on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 5601 Pleasant Run Road at Church Street in Colleyville. Interment: 2 p.m. Friday in Bellwood Annex Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark. Memorials: Contributions may also be sent to the family at The Lighthouse, 613 Rankin, Bedford, Texas 76021. Carole was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Conway, Ark., to a young single mother and was raised by her grandparents. She met Douglas Goade, her husband of 40 years, while working at Disneyland and eventually settled in Pine Bluff, Ark., where they had two sons, Christian and David. A loving mother, she ensured that her sons had an involved mother who was supportive and nurturing while creating a fun-filled home along with her husband, Doug. After her sons started school, she helped support the family by working a variety of jobs. She always advanced rapidly and often was offered significant increases in responsibility but she never let her career compete with her primary role: wife and mother. The promotion to grandmother five years ago was the one she was most proud of. She retired to Bedford in 1999 with her husband, Douglas, to be closer to their sons and was widowed in 2005. Survivors: Carole leaves her two sons and two granddaughters with treasured memories of a devoted mother, grandmother and inspiration to all who knew her.
