HURST -- Charles "Charlie" Rex McDaniel, 85, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lucas Funeral Chapel, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Charlie, the son of Charles Rex McDaniel Sr. and Susie Arlean Allison McDaniel, was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Fort Worth. He retired in 1992 from General Dynamics after 36 years of service. He loved worshiping with four generations of his family at First Baptist Church of Hurst. A special thanks to Tolofi Manisela and Palu Ngungutau, very special friends, who were an answer to our prayers in a time of need. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris Jean. Survivors: Son, Rex McDaniel and wife, Sharon; daughters, Darla Hatcher and husband, Larry, and Lu McCown and husband, Davis; grandchildren, Jenny Torson and husband, Nathaniel, Brett McDaniel and Kally, Christie Taylor and husband, Chris, Charla West and husband, Tony, Katie McCown and Maegan McCown; great-grandchildren, Donovan Torson, Levi McDaniel, Brendan and Sydney Taylor, Lilah and Corah West; sister, Juanita Shadle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
