Charles was born March 29, 1929, to Fred and Gladys Walls Melvin in West Frankfort, Ill. Survivors: Sons, Scott, Jeff and Jamie; daughter, Mindy; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Melvin; amd sisters, Maxine Jordan and Myrldean Leone.
