?????FORT WORTH -- C. W. H. Rohde, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, died peacefully Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2008, nearing his 99th birthday. ?????? Funeral: 3 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Lawrence M. Hammond will officiate. Following a service at the grave on Tuesday at 2 p.m., Mr. Rohde will be laid to rest next to his wife, Frances, who died in 1995, in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Yoakum. ?????? Visitation: He will lie in state on Monday at the funeral home where his family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. ?????? Memorials: Consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice, in his memory, is suggested. ?????? Charlie William Henry Rohde, Jr. was born January 9, 1910 in Yoakum, the son of Charlie William Henry and Cora Wolaver Rohde. While in high school, he was a member of the school's football team. In 1933, he married Mary Frances Polis in Halletsville. ?????? While in Yoakum, Charlie worked as a fireman and as an engineer for the Texas & Louisiana Power Co. He joined Swift & Co. in Yoakum and worked for the company for 42 years. In 1938, he was transferred to Fort Worth where he became chief engineer for the company. Rohde was an excellent craftsman. He was a master electrician, plumber and carpenter, trades he applied at work as well as at home. ?????? He and Frances were an active part of their friend's, children's and grandchildren's lives throughout their lives. Together they raised their three children, Mary Frances, Peggy Ann and Charles. ?????? He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter, Mary Frances Rohde Timm, who died in 1982, a grandson, Lowane E. Timm, Jr., brother, Fred Rohde and a sister Edith Rohde. ?????? Survivors: In addition to his daughter, Peggy Ann Rohde Roberson and son, Charlie W. H. Rohde III, Mr. Rohde is survived by his grandchildren, Cindy Timm Ward, Janan Timm Benefiel and Vance Timm, Mark Bryan Roberson and Mathew Craig Roberson and Shaun William Rohde and his wife, Kasie, Jaymi Ann Rohde Clevinger and her husband, Michael; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Cora Lee, Doris, Marion, Margaret, Bettie Jean and Dorothy; and their families.
