ARLINGTON -- Charlotte Ann Holly, 70, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday at Blessing Colonial Chapel. Memorials: The family requests memorials be sent to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Great Pyrenees Rescue of North Texas. Charlotte was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Vicksburg, Miss., and lived her younger years in Baton Rouge, La. She obtained an undergraduate degree from SMU and a graduate degree in anthropology and Spanish. Her love for knowledge and literature continued throughout her life. Charlotte's fond memories of the South and adventurous spirit led her to write her first novel. She was known to all who loved her as the ultimate entertainer, hostess and chef. Her extravagant parties and fund-raisers are still remembered by Arlington. Charlotte's passions were gardening, writing, travel, her dogs and her beloved family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Emmet Holly; and her mother, Mildred McGee Holly. Survivors: Children, Joe Reid Martin III and his wife, Linda of Arlington, Russell Ramsey Martin and his wife, Dawn of Chama, N.M., and Holly Martin Reynolds and husband, Chuck of Arlington; grandchildren, Julia Martin Sable, Jay Martin, Rollin Reynolds, Roxane Reynolds; and her Great Pyrenees, Hoover Holly.
