CLARA LEVY

FORT WORTH -- Clara Stevens Levy, 83, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and niece, died peacefully, with her daughters at her side, Tuesday afternoon, May 6, 2008. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Beth-El Congregation, 4901 Briarhaven Road. Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger will officiate. Following committal prayers, Clara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Harold, in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Bearers of her casket will be Joe Dearing, Joshua Kravetz, Joey Dearing, Nathan Dearing, Jake Dearing and Clint Oppie. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the James L. West Alzheimer's Center, Beth-El Congregation or a charity of one's choice, in Clara's memory, is suggested. A native and lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Clara was the daughter of Charles and Ruby Kelley Stevens. She was active as a member in Beth-El Congregation throughout her adult life. Volunteering with the National Council of Jewish Women, she worked with immigrant families of many faiths and nationalities seeking American citizenship. In her professions and as a volunteer for many organizations, she shared her expertise and giving nature in the areas of literacy, training and teaching. Her passions were her love of family, her pets, music, nature, the performing arts and travel, which often merged with her talents of sewing, gardening, cooking and painting. Clara "mothered" and mentored many fortunate individuals, who became her extended family. In addition to her husband, Harold, who died in 1991, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Allen. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Janice Knebl and our James L. West extended family of angels who cared for their mother, the Community Hospice caregiver team and our own special hospice angel, Susan Peart, LVN. Survivors: Her daughters, Marsha Levy Kravetz of Fort Worth and Amanda Levy Dearing and her husband, Joe, of Willow Park; grandsons, Joshua Kravetz and his wife, Jackie, of Longmont, Colo., and Joey, Nathan and Jake Dearing; Betty and Bob Levy of St. Louis, Mo.; aunts and an uncle; and nieces and nephews.
