Clifford Lewis

MANSFIELD -- Clifford Edwin "Kip" Lewis Sr. passed from this earth on June 10, 2008, at Huguley Hospice in Burleson. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Kip has asked that donations be made to The Wish to Fish Foundation. He was born March 19, 1943, in Saugerties, N.Y., son of Leroy Benjamin Lewis and Sarah Alice Ricks. Kip loved living and fishing in the Catskill Mountains as a child. He was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard after two years and the Air Force for eight years. He was a police officer for the Dallas Police Department for 32 years. He received the Distinguished Service Award, three Life Saving Awards, two Shields (Purple Heart equivalent), Certificate of Achievement Award, and Police Officer of the Year. He believed in God first, family second, and dedication to duty. Kip was preceded in death by father, "Papa" Leroy Benjamin Lewis; mother, Sarah Ann Ricks; brothers, Lawrence David Lewis, Robert Watson Lewis; twin, Clayton Edward Lewis, and Paul Lewis. Survivors: Wife, Mary Linda Lewis of Mansfield; children, Clifford Edwin Lewis Jr. and wife, Gretchen Cyr Lewis, of Lewisville, Jared Lee Lewis of Mansfield, Jon Paul Lewis and wife, Katherine Lee Lewis, of Aubrey; grandchildren, Dakota David Lewis, Brandon Kip Lewis; beloved stepmom, Mabel Lewis of Stuart, Fla.; stepsister, Pat Tosney of Stuart, Fla.; brother, Leroy Charles Lewis of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
