NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Clifton Frank Dunn, praise God, is pain-free and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, after a fierce two-year battle with prostate cancer. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Sylvania Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: His wishes were that he be cremated, after which his ashes will be placed in an ammunition box. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home. Cliff was born in Fort Worth on June 20, 1960, to Frank and Shirley Dunn. He resided in Haltom City for most of his younger years, finally settling in the family home in North Richland Hills several years ago. He graduated from Haltom High School in 1978. He worked at several companies throughout the years, including General Dynamics, Bolt and Tool and, most recently, RPM, where he made many fine friends. He characterized his time at RPM as some of the most satisfying years he ever spent in his career in shipping and receiving, working for and with awesome people, whom he loved. Cliff had aspired as a young man to become a nurse and because of that, he appreciated the care that he received at the hands of the staff of the Palliative Care floor at Harris Methodist Hospital in his last days. Cliff enjoyed singing in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church for quite awhile, lifting his beautiful baritone in praise of the living God. He was also an elder at Zion for a time. One of his favorite pastimes was playing in the Haltom City Adult Softball League for the Mario Bros. team. His former teammates remember him as a serious competitor who knew how to have a good time while stomping the opposition. He was a staunch Republican and a longtime member of the NRA and was proud of both of those facts. Most importantly, he was a devoted Christian with an unyielding faith in the goodness and mercy of God, which is manifested ultimately by the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins. This gives us the assurance that we will see Cliff again in a healed, perfect body in heaven. Cliff met his loving wife, Elizabeth, 12 years ago, and after a long friendship, they realized that they were soulmates and married Oct. 4, 2003. God, in his infinite wisdom, did not bless them with a baby, but He gave them instead the loving additions of two Dachshunds, Jack and Audrey; two Siberian Huskies, Matisse and Picasso; and two cats, Mickey and Abby, who are all treated as their children. We miss you, Cliff, and look forward to seeing you again in God's Kingdom. He was preceded in death by a much-loved brother, Darrell Dunn; his stepfather, Raymond Everitt; his mother, Shirley Everitt; and his father, Frank Dunn. Other beloved relatives who have passed on include his aunt, Fanny Beach, and his uncle, Charles Raesz. Survivors: Wife, Elizabeth; stepmother, Angie Dunn; sister, Chris Long and husband, Cecil; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Stacie Everitt; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Beth Everitt; brother, David Norman; sister, Sue Dunn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved very much; and his precious aunt, Loretta Raesz, whose wisdom and courage inspired him. He also leaves behind two of the best friends a man could ever have, Craig Keelen, whose friendship meant more to Cliff than Craig will ever know, and Joe Eadie, who Cliff could count on unfailingly in hardship as well as good times.
