FORT WORTH -- Darmond Wayne Matlock, 89, a retired technical assistant in metallurgist engineering, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at an area hospital. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery. Darmond was a veteran of World War II and obtained the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was one of only two survivors in his squadron. He was employed for 25 years with Dresser Industries. He was a graduate of North Side High School. He attended Texas Christian University. His family and friends especially remember him for his compassion for people in need. Survivors: His wife, Clemy Matlock of DeSoto; sisters, Marie Matlock Smith of Fort Worth and Donney Wohlert of St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew; three nieces; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
