Type Obit Here HALTOM CITY -- Darrel Vernon Smith, 81, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at a local hospital.        Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday in Lucas Sylvania Funeral Home, the Rev. Kelly Burton, pastor of Riverside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment: 12:45 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Sylvania Funeral Home.        Memorials: The family respectfully requests that instead of flowers, please honor Darrel's memory with gifts in his name to Riverside Baptist Church, The Lottie Moon Foreign Missions Offering.        Darrel was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church and served as a deacon in the church. He worked for Prudential Insurance for 35 years. He was a big sports fan and an avid golfer. He served proudly and honorably as an officer in the U.S. Army in Korea.        Survivors: Darrel is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carlita Smith; sons, Darrel Blaine Smith and wife, Tammy, and Warren Smith and wife, Susan; daughter, Tara Dawn Smith and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Jesse Smith, Emily Smith, Amanda Smith and Joshua Smith; brother, Donald Smith and wife, Mildred; and extended family.
