CROWLEY -- David Benson Sr., 65, a loving husband, devoted father and dedicated pastor for 13 years and passionate Christian school principal for 22 years, entered into a greater life Monday, July 20, 2009, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Friday at Fort Worth First Church of the Nazarene, 2001 E. Main St., Crowley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, Burleson. Memorials: Contributions may be made to Nazarene Christian Academy, 2001 E. Main St., Crowley, Texas 76036. David "fought a good fight and kept the faith." David leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten. He earned the love and respect of many people. David always thought of others first. His love for his family was constant and he never wavered on doing the right thing. His desire to help others was never questioned and his willingness to listen always prevailed. He set an example of what is important, right and good in life. He never made anyone feel unimportant, shouldering the stress of challenges through his constant smile and humor. He will be greatly missed by all. He served as minister of visitation in his retirement years, 2004 to 2009, at Fort Worth First Church of the Nazarene in Crowley. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ben and Edith Haufler Benson. Survivors: His best friend and faithful companion of 45 years, Sharon; children, David E. Benson Jr. and wife, Stefanie, and Elisabeth Gray and husband, Dan; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Taryn, Tori and Alli; sisters, Linda Montgomery, Shirley Reisdorph; brother, Paul Benson Jr.; and he will be greatly missed by a large family of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
