David's cremated remains will be placed privately in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: His family will receive friends in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to the Humane Society of North Texas, in David's memory, is suggested. A native and life resident of Fort Worth, David was born Feb. 25, 1923, the son of Basil Devier and Ruth Connell Snyder. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School, he attended Texas Christian University and North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington. In 1943 he served in the U.S. Army as a gunnery instructor and later became a flight engineer in the Pacific theater. After being discharged, David took a job at the Fort Worth Press where he was promoted to advertising manager. In 1952 he was hired by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as its retail advertising salesman and was promoted in the 1960s as retain advertising manager. He was later promoted to advertising director and in 1981, he became vice president of advertising for the newspaper. David was selected to receive Tarrant County's highest advertising honor, the Silver Medal Award. Coveted like a gold Olympic medal by athletes, the Silver Medal Award is given to one of a dozen or so possible honorees for merit in advertising. His civic involvement included being a longtime member of the Fort Worth Advertising Club and the International Newspaper Advertising and Marketing Executives group. David was treasurer and a member of the executive committee of the Better Business Bureau and a member of the advisory committee of the Salvation Army. In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, gardening, boat racing and slipping away to his 80-acre pecan orchard in Hood County. His family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to Tammy and Mike and for the loving care he received from Bridgeway Home Hospice. Survivors: David is survived by his wife, Marriane Blocker Snyder of Fort Worth; son, Tracy Snyder of Benbrook; daughter, Kelle Snyder Hill and her husband, James E.
