FORT WORTH -- Dell Prather Blackmon, 81, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2008. Funeral: A Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: She will lie in state on Monday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper. Her family will receive friends in the Great Room from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to The Warm Place or a charity of one's choice, in Dell's memory, is suggested. A native of Wichita Falls, Dell was born Aug. 9, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Mae Webb Prather. She married Bill N. Blackmon on Oct. 14, 1946. Dell retired from the Tarrant County Health Department as director of nursing. Survivors: Her husband of 61 years, Bill; daughter, Kimberly Blackmon Henry and her husband, Freddy of Little Rock, Ark.; son, Neff Blackmon and his wife, Olivia of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Andria, Alyssa and Karah Henry, and Rachel, Sarah, Kiley and Chris Blackmon; great-grandson, Jonah Blackmon; twin sister, Nell Prather Bearden and her husband, Lloyd; sister, Nida Prather Sanders; nieces; and nephews.
