Delpha Jean Davis

ARLINGTON -- Delpha "Del" J. McDonald Davis passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in Arlington. Graveside service: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral home in Hurst with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Del was born in Burlington, Iowa, in May 1924. She served in the Navy as a WAVE stationed in San Francisco. There she married her husband of 44 years, John "Jack" McDonald. A longtime member of the Hurst community, she taught special education in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district until she retired. She thoroughly enjoyed children and spent time as a bus driver for the St. George Catholic School. In her later years, she found her passion for dance. She loved to get dressed up and dance the night away. She always had a quick wit that kept those around her on their toes but always smiling.
