Don Onstott

BEDFORD -- Don Onstott of Bedford, Texas died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Jack's Place in Euless. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Don graduated from Adamson High School in 1952, and Abilene Christian University in 1956. He married Carolyn Stewart in 1956, and they were married for 44 years until her death in 2000. Don married Janie Iven in 2004, and they were married 10 years until his death. He spent 48 years as a Trust Officer at various Banks in Texas and Oklahoma, retiring from Bank of American in January, 2004. He was a member of the North Davis Church of Christ, and served as an Elder at Desoto and Mansfield Churches of Christ for over 30 years. Don was a song leader at both congregations, and was a member of the Mansfield Praise Team. His love for music was a source of great joy in his life. He was a member of the Dallas Choraliers; performed in a local production of Fiddler on the Roof, and after retirement, joined the Silver Serenaders of Texas. He also recorded a number of CD's for his family and friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents, R.D. and Lena Onstott, his brother, Dan Onstott, and his first wife, Carolyn Onstott. Survivors: He is survived by his current wife, Janie Iven Onstott, three children: Julie Onstott, Jan Onstott, and Jill Cox and her husband James, three step-children; Jessica Wyatt and her husband Mike, Nicol Neves and her husband Scott, and Danielle Iven Speegle; Brother-in-law Jimmy Stewart and his wife Nell: five grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Onstott, Ezra, Eli, and Eason Cox, six step-grandchildren: Emma and Hope Speegle, Megan and Jake Hoffer, and Max and Ben Wyatt, and two great-grandchildren, Alayna Huff and Carter Onstott.
