FORT WORTH -- Donald Bennett Wiley, 83, a retired electrical engineer, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at a local hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3200 Denton Highway, Fort Worth. Burial: Following a committal service, he will be laid to rest in Grapevine Cemetery. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Tarrant County Affiliate, 6040 Camp Bowie, Fort Worth 76116; St. Luke United Methodist Church; or a charity of choice. Donald Bennett Wiley was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Grapevine to Dick B. and Lela Mae Bennett Wiley. He was a charter member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church and later a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. He graduated from Riverside High School and UT-Arlington. He was primarily employed by General Dynamics and Ling-Temco-Vought. Donald was a very thoughtful, kind and charitable person who enjoyed reading economic and business publications. He was a tinkerer and liked to solve problems. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ida. Survivors: Daughter, Janice Vardakis and her husband, George; son, Howard Schwope and his wife, Dottie; sisters, Annette Lowry and her husband, Buck, and Bettye Neely; brother, Gene Wiley and his wife, Bettye Jo; grandchildren, Alexandria, Sophia, Alyssa and Skyler; first cousins, Bill and Sandra Tate; and several second cousins.
