FORT WORTH -- Doris Courtney Tripp, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Baird, on Saturday evening, Feb. 16, 2008. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Celebration Fellowship Church. The Rev. Dr. James Reeves will officiate. Following services in the church, she will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Doris will lie in state on Monday in the Drawing Room at Robertson Mueller Harper; her family will receive friends in the Great Room from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to Celebration Fellowship Church for the Celebration Station Children's Building Fund, 1140 Morrison Drive, Fort Worth 76112, in Doris's memory, is suggested. A native of Shreveport, La., Doris was born June 8, 1928, the daughter of Robert Leonard and Winnie Hooker Courtney. She was baby sister to two brothers, Robert W. and Donald R. "Bubba" Courtney, who, along with her parents, preceded her in death. Doris married L. Baird Tripp on Jan. 29, 1947. They were married 56 years before Mr. Tripp's death in 2003. She had longed to be with him every day since. "Gee" loved her family more than life itself and was treasured by all of them. She was the epitome of what God created to be in a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Doris was a true lady and never met a stranger. Her legacy will go on until we meet again in heaven. Her family wishes to express a special thank you to Ona Cox, her housekeeper and friend. Survivors: She is survived by her son, Ricky Baird Tripp and his wife, Jimmie of Hudson Oaks; daughter, Margie Tripp Huchingson and her husband, Jody of Arlington; grandchildren, Rachel and Greg Stark, Ben and Kelli Tripp and Jason McConnell; great-grandbabies, Bailey, Blair, Elle, Morgan, Jenna, Fletcher and Hudson; her uncle and companion, Tyree Hooker; nieces; and nephews.
