HOUSTON -- Dorothea David Baum, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Friday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2009. ?????? Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road. Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger will officiate. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gary, in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. ?????? Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beth-El Congregation, in Dorothea's memory, is suggested. ?????? Born in a small German town on March 9, 1924, Dorothea and her parents and brother immigrated to the United States 70 years ago and settled in Kansas City, Mo. In 1953, she and her husband moved to Fort Worth with their two children where she resided for 54 years. Dorothea moved to the Medallion Assisted Living in Houston two years ago. ?????? She was an active member and participant of Temple Beth-El in Fort Worth. She was a strong supporter of Jewish causes and the State of Israel. She was a valued employee of Sanger Harris and eventually retired from Macy's after 25 years of service. ?????? Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gary Baum, who died in 2006. ?????? Survivors: Her survivors include sons, Dennis and his wife, Dixie, of Dallas and Kenny Baum and his wife, Donna, of Houston; daughter, Jane Baum Robbins and her husband, Jeff, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, David Baum and his wife, Sarah, Michael Baum, Jeremy Robbins, Daniel Robbins, Andy Baum and Lauren Baum; great-grandson, Dawson Baum; brother, Dr. Fred S.
