???MANSFIELD -- Lavon Bowman Casstevens, 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at an Arlington hospital. ??? Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. Burial: Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blessing Funeral Home. ??? Memorials: American Cancer Society or Mansfield Animal Shelter. ??? Lavon was born July 23, 1919, in Mansfield, the daughter of Harbert and Mary Frances Crook Bowman. She married Truett Casstevens in Fort Worth on October 23, 1940. She was a homemaker and a devoted and caring wife and mother. Lavon loved shopping, watching girls basketball games and doing things for others. She attended First Baptist Church of Mansfield from birth until 1995 when she joined Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. Lavon was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Truett Casstevens, on January 22, 2005; her parents, Harbert and Mary Francis Bowman; brother, Elvis Bowman; and sister, Leona Marshal. ??? Survivors: Daughters, Shelia Betzel and husband, Al, and Karen Parker and husband, Rick, all of Mansfield; granddaughter, Heather Strawn and husband, Stacy, of Arlington; great-grandsons, Landon and Cody Strawn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
