KELLER -- Dorothy Stoneking Howard was born March 16, 1921 to Charles and Sylvia Gunther. She passed away in Grapevine, TX on Wed. July 22, 2009. Service: Monday 7:00PM at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St. Keller, TX Visitation: Monday 6-7 PM Lucas Funeral Home. Graveside: Friday 10:00AM at Prairie City Cemetery in Prairie City, Illinois. There will be a visitation at Corman Memorial Funeral Home in Avon, Il on Thursday at 7:00PM. Dorothy was a member of the Methodist Churches in Pairie City, Il, Dallas City, Il and Keller, TX. She was very active in community affairs. She was Village Clerk of Prairie City, Il for several years. Dorothy and Burley owned and operated the last Grocery store in Prairie City. She was Pastmaster in Ellisville, Il for six years and worked for the postal service in Prairie City, Maquon and Galesburg, Il. Dorothy had an abundant amount of friends that she enjoyed and loved. She loved quilting, crossword puzzles,and writing, mostly poetry. She often wrote poems for her dear friends and also co-authored the book, "History Of Prairie City" for the bicentennial celebration. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy married Burley Stoneking (Feb.28, 1942) who preceded her in death and also married the late Virgil Howard (May 15, 1983). She was also predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Weddle and a brother, John Frederick Gunther. Survivors: daughter, Christina Anderson and husband, Richard; son Charles Stoneking and wife, Sonni; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
