Dorothy Martin

BEDFORD -- Dorothy Tesmer Martin, 80, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at a local hospital. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7321 Lola Drive, North Richland Hills. The Rev. Brian Dobler will officiate. Interment: Noon Friday in Norwood Cemetery, Hearne. Visitation: The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the church. Memorials: Friends who desire are respectfully invited to honor Dorothy's memory with a gift in her name to Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7321 Lola Drive, North Richland Hills, Texas 76180. Dorothy was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Taylor to Edward Fredrick and Augusta Ludwina Wendland Tesmer. She grew up in Hearne, where she went to school and met Arnold Randolph Martin, whom she married Feb. 17, 1950. In the 1950s, Dorothy and her family moved to Bedford, where they would live for the rest of their lives. She became a widow Oct. 4, 1989. She continued to enjoy life even with severe health problems dealing with surgery for cancer in 1999. She continued to have a sharp mind and a strong desire for life before she succumbed to complications of lung disorders. Dorothy was a faithful and selfless wife and mother. She always modeled God's unconditional love to her family, putting others first. All her family and friends miss her deeply and know she has gone to the Author of unconditional love. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Glenney Dial Martin Jr. Survivors: Sons, Arnold Randolph Martin Jr. and Mark Martin; brother-in-law, Robert Zachry Martin and his wife, Melanie; sister-in-law, Jane Martin; niece, Suzanne Hafley and her husband, John; and nephew, Glenney Dial Martin III.
