MANSFIELD -- Dorothy Ann "D.A." Ward passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mansfield Foreign Missions Program, Mansfield Cemetery, or charity of your choice. Dorothy Ann was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Mansfield to N.B. Ward and Nora E. Smithee Ward. She was raised in Mansfield Baptist Church. The pastor, Dr. J.M. Price, made it possible for her to attend Southwestern Baptist Seminary. For that gift she was forever grateful. Her seminary training prepared her to serve as an associate to the pastors of Central Baptist Church, Jacksonville, 4 1/2 years, First Baptist Church, Temple, 4 1/2 years, and Columbus Avenue Church, Waco, 24 1/2 years. After her retirement she returned to the fellowship at First Baptist Church of Mansfield. "Serving the Lord is a gracious opportunity to have a happy and joyous life." DAW Dorothy Ann was one of 13 children. Survivors: Brother, John S. Ward of Mansfield; sisters, Maude Norvell of Arlington, Ona Faye Martin of Arlington and Marilynn Chambers of Bartlett, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
