Dorris Gannon

HURST -- Dorris Maxine Gannon passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, in Fort Worth at the age of 88.        Funeral: 3 p.m. Sunday in the stateroom of Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Burial: Private in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.        Dorris was born July 3, 1921, in Rush Springs, Okla., and grew up in West Texas. She married Burt Gannon in 1944 and moved to Fort Worth with her family in 1953. Dorris was an accomplished pianist and singer, playing for church choirs and special groups for many years. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Her beloved husband Burt preceded her in death in 2008.        The family wishes to thank Stonegate Nursing Center in Fort Worth and Vitas Hospice for their kind and tender care of our mom and grandmother.        Survivors: Son, Gerald Gannon and wife, Barbara, of Hurst; daughter, Karen Elrod and husband, Woody, of Benbrook; grandson, Brian Gannon and wife, Lori, of Southlake; granddaughters, Mandy Hendry and husband, Chris, of Lawton, Okla., Lauren Benedetti and husband, Dan, of Arlington and Julie Atcheson and husband, Scotty, of Benbrook; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Chambers and wife, Bonnie, of Odessa and Claude Chambers and wife, June, of Manchaca; and numerous nieces and nephews.
