Huff-Slay Funeral Home Pilot Point, Texas William E. "Bill" Hilz, 85 of Pilot Point, passed away on Friday, June, 10, 2011 in Denton. He was born on March 29, 1926 in Pilot Point to William Hilz and Mary Jentgen Hilz. He married Ima Sue Roane on November 17, 1951. He earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree from North Texas State University in Denton. He served in the United States Navy in World War II, serving in Okinawa, Japan and Iwo Jima and received an Honorable Discharge in June 1946. Bill worked as a salesman and owned Hilz Ford Sales in Pilot Point and co-owned Hilz-Snider Chevrolet in Sanger. He also worked at Pilot Point National Bank and served on the Board of Directors for Sanger Bank prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pilot Point and achieved the rank of 4th Degree Knight. He served of the Pilot Point City Council from 1979-1982 and was active in the Pilot Point Kiwanis Club. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. James Flynn officiating. Visitation and Rosary was said on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the church. He is survived by his wife, Sue of Pilot Point; one son, Dr. Michael Hilz and wife Debbie of Sherman, and one daughter, Deborah Fischer and husband Michael of Pilot Point. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, George Hilz of Pilot Point; Jim Hilz of California; Bob Hilz of Arizona and John Hilz of Dallas. Also surviving are two sisters Betty Bernhardt of Houston and Molly Cummings of Universal City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents one brother, Harold Hilz, and a sister Margaret Kam.
