GRAPEVINE -- Earl Milton Swanson, 94, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010. Funeral: Noon Monday at Hanner Funeral Home, 103 W. Main St., Atlanta, Texas, 903-796-2835. Interment: Queen City Cemetery in Queen City. Visitation: The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home. Earl was born July 11, 1916, in Arco, Minn. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning from the Pacific theater, Earl married Woodie in 1951. In 1959 Earl and Woodie moved to their farm in Grapevine where they raised cows and horses. During the 1960s Earl was a heavy equipment operator with the Corps of Engineers, working at Lake Grapevine, Lake Benbrook, Lake Texoma and Lake Ray Hubbard, to name a few. He was preceded in death by his wife, Woodie Swanson, and daughter, Deborah Joan Swanson. Survivors: Mr. Swanson leaves behind a large extended family.
