FORT WORTH -- Earl R. Waddell Jr., 89, died peacefully Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, 2008. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Chaplain Barbara McElroy will officiate. Earl was born June 5, 1919. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was most proud of his aviation accomplishments having flown the B-17, B-25 and B-26 bomber aircrafts. After leaving the service, Earl had a full business career as a machine tool distributor, banker and rancher. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending the last 32 years playing golf, chasing game birds and fishing for large bass in his home lake. The fish got bigger as the stories were told and retold. His memory will last in the many stories told by family and friends he met along the way. Survivors: His children, Ray, Jan and Loy and his wife, Virginia; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and Cam Beight, a caring friend.
