Elden Charles Fick

HURST -- Elden Charles Fick, 82, passes away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1308 Whitley Road, Keller. Pastor Glenn Huebel will officiate. Interment: 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Elden Charles Fick was born in Austin, Minn., to Henry and Alma Warnsholz Fick on May 30, 1931. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1951. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics and was assigned to Chanute Air Force Base in Illnois for further training. His military career took him to many distant places: England, Okinawa, Guam, South East Asia and Alaska. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf, National Defense Ribbon with bronze star and South East Asia Service Ribbon. Elden retired from the Air Force in 1973 with the rank of technical sergeant; however, his 60-year aviation career continued with Braniff Airways, American Airlines, America West Airlines and Airline Components Systems. Survivors: His wife, Ellois; children, Kenneth Fick, Cheryl Asbury, Paula Fick, Christopher Fick, Migon Hudson and Marvin Henderson; 14 grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Abby; and brother, Arnold Fick.
