NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Elfin "Dolly" York, 98, peacefully joined Her Lord and Savior on her wedding anniversary, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. Service: Her life will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at North Richland Hills Baptist Church where she was a member and served for 30 years. Interment: 4 p.m. in New Prospect Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. Memorials: To honor her memory, a donation to Angel Land Preschool of North Richland Hills Baptist Church or Texas Association for the Blind, 3232 E. Abram St., Arlington, Texas 76010. Dolly was born on April 4, 1912, in Henderson, where she will be laid to rest. She lived to serve her Lord as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, preschool teacher and Sunday school teacher. Grammy Dolly was always seeking ways to give to her family whether it was a special dessert, meals, presents or time. Her greatest gift was her Christian legacy that has blessed her family and she has seen all of them confess Jesus as Savior and Lord. In her final days she was served and cared for faithfully by her daughter; the loving staff of the Wellington and Holiday Lane Estates; and her special friend and caregiver, Kim Mathis. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Gene York; her parents, Cora Lee and John Henry Young; and many brothers and sisters. Survivors: Daughter, Barbara Hancock and husband, Dean; grandchildren, Cary Hancock and wife, Melody, Kelly Hancock and wife, Robin, and Pattilinn Priest and husband, Cory; great-grandchildren, Layne and C.J. Hancock, Chloe, Skylar and Harrison Hancock and Laramie, Dakota and Steelie Priest; sisters, Nadine Berry and Marie Brewer; sister-in-law, Jane Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
