FORT WORTH -- Elizabeth Ruth "Beth" Hanmer, 49, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007, in Lake Worth after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Celebration of life: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Drawing Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Stanley Maneikis will officiate. Visitation: Elizabeth's family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to a charity of choice in Elizabeth's name is suggested. Elizabeth grew up in Simsbury, Conn., and left for Florida after school. She lived there for many years and then joined her family in Fort Worth. She enjoyed waitressing and was truly a born saleswoman. She volunteered to speak to teens on AIDS education and worked toward a degree at TCJC. In her quest for peace, Elizabeth lived in many places, but her time in Granbury, living on the Brazos River, was heaven to her as she loved fishing and the water. She was an excellent cook and her habit of rescuing homeless animals has kept the family stocked with pets for many years! We will miss her spirit and her kind heart. Although life was often hard for her, she never lost her ability to be kind to those who needed a smile or a hug. Her courage in the face of illness was amazing to the end. "Some people come into our lives and quietly go... Others stay for a while and leave footprints in our hearts and we are never the same." Elizabeth's family would like to thank Dr. Neerukonda and Dr. Compagna at JPS for their skill and attention during her illness. In addition to her father, Russell F. Hanmer, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Jammie Neff Jackson, and her grandparents, the Rev. Louis F. and Ruth Martin. Survivors: Her mother whom she loved very dearly, Dr. Patricia Hanmer; sister, Patricia Hanmer and her husband, Thomas MacDonald of West Simsbury, Conn.; stepmother, Linda Hanmer; and aunts and uncle, Ruth E. Martin and Barbara and John Rogers of San Diego, Calif. Robertson Mueller Harper Funerals & Cremations 1500 Eighth Ave., 817-924-4233
