Lois G. Worthy, 62 of Aubrey, passed away peacefully on Thursday April, 21, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family. Lois was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) in October of 2008 and after courageously facing her diagnosis spent the remainder of her life lifting, loving, teaching and cheering those around her. Lois was born on November 4, 1948 in Decatur to Bill and Viola (Hestand) Blackburn. She was an active Christian leader in her community and remained dedicated to her faith throughout her entire life. Lois was a dedicated stay at home mother. After her daughters were grown and became mothers of their own, she spent many years as a teacher's aide helping children with disabilities. Lois loved children, she would say that their little eyes gave life. Her greatest joy and pleasure was being "Mimi" to her nine grandchildren. She loved to spend as much time as she could outdoors watching them run and play. She lived her life with passion, dedication, hard work and above all selflessness and unconditional love. She is survived by three daughters, Tammy Amor of Pilot Point, Tonya Terry of Savannah and Jenny Smith of Aubrey; her parents, Bill and Viola Blackburn of Denton; three brothers, Calvin Blackburn of Krum, Johnny Blackburn of Krum and Tommy Blackburn of Denton; and nine grandchildren, Blake, Ashleigh, Payton, Tori, Megan, Chris, Avery, Axton, and Asher. Her faith, pure heart and indomitable spirit will be sorely missed.
